The Salt Lake City office has a staff consisting of engineers and geologists, special inspectors, construction materials testing technicians, nondestructive testing technicians, environmental scientists, and administrative staff. The unit is located in a 13,000 sf facility housing offices and laboratories. The laboratories are equipped to perform conventional tests on soils, aggregates, asphalt, concrete, and masonry products. The laboratory is accredited by AASHTO re:source (AMRL and CCRL) and the Utah Department of Transportation. Appropriately equipped and staffed mobile field offices and laboratories are established for on-site operations in remote locations or on large-size projects.

Western Technologies - Salt Lake City routinely provides services for asbestos surveys and abatement design and oversight, lead-based paint and mold services, noise monitoring, forensic testing, environmental site assessments (Phase 1 and 2 ESAs), and soil and groundwater remediation. Our geotechnical engineers assist developers and designers with site evaluations and soil reports containing foundation and earthwork recommendations. Nondestructive examination using radiography (RT), ultra-sonic testing (UT), dye penetrant testing (PT), and magnetic particle testing (MT), as well as infrared thermography and ground penetrating radar (GPR) surveys are regularly requested by our clients.


Field and Laboratory Materials Testing and Special Inspection for the new Adobe Corporate Campus
The Adobe Corporate Campus, Phase 1 project in Lehi, Utah included the construction of a 280,000 square-foot LEED Gold facility with additional amenities including cafeteria, exercise gym and basketball court. Western Technologies provided field and laboratory construction materials testing and special inspection services to Adobe for this project. Western was presented an Award of Excellence for the quality and performance of concrete testing on this project from the American Concrete Institute (ACI).

AHERA regulation compliance and Asbestos Abatement at Logan City School District
Logan City School District, Logan, Utah - Since 2010, Western Technologies has provided AHERA Asbestos Inspections and Management Plans for Logan City School District. Included were elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, alternative schools and maintenance and administrative offices. Western previously updated all schools in a timely and cost efficient manner and delivered the district into compliance with EPA and State of Utah Requirements. In 2013 and 2016, Western re-inspected the schools for compliance with AHERA regulations. Our services also included abatement oversight at several schools for removal of asbestos containing materials.

Field and Laboratory Construction Materials Testing for the Jon M. and Karen Hunstman Basketball Facility
The Jon M. and Karen Huntsman Basketball Facility, a state-of-the-art, $36 million, 101,000-square-foot structure, opened northeast of the Huntsman Center arena on the University of Utah campus. The four-story building features a legacy hall, separate glass-enclosed upper levels for both the men’s and women’s programs, and a rooftop terrace. Western Technologies provided field and laboratory construction materials testing and special inspection services for the State of Utah DFCM for this project.
