The Durango office has a staff consisting of engineers, materials technicians, and administrative personnel. The unit facility houses offices and laboratories. The laboratories are equipped to perform conventional tests on soils, aggregate, asphalt, concrete, and masonry products. Together with Western Technologies – Farmington, the laboratory is accredited by AASHTO re:source (AMRL and CCRL) and the Colorado Department of Transportation.
Western Technologies' - Durango routinely provides geotechnical engineering services to assist developers and designers with site evaluations and soil reports containing foundation and earthwork recommendations. Under the umbrella of the International Building Code (IBC) and local building departments, Western’s Durango based Special Inspectors perform inspections of reinforced concrete, structural masonry, structural steel and bolting, welding, soils and foundations systems, and fire-resistant materials.

Western Technologies provided geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing services for the design and construction of a medical office building, inpatient wing and EMS station at the Southwest Memorial Hospital in Cortez, Colorado. Our services included a subsurface exploration, laboratory testing, and engineering analysis to develop design phase recommendations for foundations, floor slab, a below-grade wall, and pavement design for the new structures.
The new Mercury Payment Systems facility included the construction of an 84,000-square-foot, two-story office building; roadways, parking lots, and drives; soil nail and MSE retaining walls; and associated infrastructure. Western Technologies’ services included special inspection, observation and testing of fill placement and compaction, asphalt, concrete, masonry, structural steel, high-strength bolting, spray-applied fireproofing, foundation observation, and pavement subgrade preparation.
