Since the implementation of federal UST requirements in 1988, the environmental professionals at
Western Technologies
have completed hundreds of tank closures and investigations for clientele from the petroleum distribution industry, banking and financial institutions, private real estate development companies, governmental agencies and transportation groups.
Our project experience includes: • Tanks holding petroleum or other volatile hazardous substances; •
Fueling facilities to complex industrial waste storage systems; and • Decommissioning of single tanks to multiple tanks at geographically
dispersed locations.
In the event of a leaking tank or other environmental cleanup action, site investigations are
initiated to define the source and extent of soil or water contamination. Depending upon the challenges inherent with the site and the nature of the contamination, our investigative
methods may include one or several of the following: borings, monitoring wells, soil gas surveys, geophysical surveys, hydropunch and geoprobe. The intent is to select procedures
that will enable us to fully characterize the site and evaluate the feasibility of various cleanup alternatives using factors that include cost, effectiveness, feasibility, permanence
and potential health risk. Development of site work plans and regulatory permitting assistance are also services offered to our clients.
Western's
staff also has significant hands-on experience with the development and implementation of remediation actions based on physical, chemical, thermal, and biological
technologies. Our experience includes free-product recovery systems, groundwater pumping and containment, soil vapor extraction, liquid and vapor phase carbon treatment, catalytic
oxidation, in situ biodegradation, land farming, soil thermal volatilization, and removal/disposal. Regardless of the specific technology chosen, Western Technologies'
remediation plans are designed to meet the client's regulatory and budgetary needs and timing constraints. |
